How does it work?

SmileSkin Handset uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), which is a modern type of laser hair removal used for long-term, pain-free hair removal. When our Handset is used on your hair, it absorbs the IPL which then heats and destroys the targeted hair cells.

Is it safe?

Absolutely! There have been a number of studies around the world which prove the safety and effectiveness of IPL for hair removal. Due to this fact, it has become an extremely popular safe and effective method of hair removal.

Is it painful?

One of the many advantages of our Handset over other types of laser is that it is pain-free. Most customers explain the feeling as a warm sensation on the skin.

Is it permanent?

Our Handset offers extremely long lasting results; however, please note that no form of laser hair removal is permanent, even at the clinics. Just be careful when companies claim “permanent” hair removal, as this term technically means that there will be no regrowth of hair for 6 months. To maintain long-term results, we advise using our Handset once a week for 8 weeks, then just once every few months for maintenance.

Is eye protection required?

No, eye protection is not required while using our Handset. Our Handsets have been designed with a sensor and will not pulse a light unless the entire window is pressed against your skin. However, you should NEVER try and look directly into the light as it flashes.

How long will it take before I start seeing results?

Most users start to see a reduction of hair in just 3-4 treatments using our handset, with complete results after 12 treatments. However, results vary from person to person.

How often do I need to use it?

We recommend using your handset once a week for the first 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, we recommend using your handset once a month, for 2 months or until satisfied. If you would like to maintain hairless, smooth skin, we recommend using your handset once every 2 to 3 months, or as needed.

How many years will this product last?

Our handset has a use-life of 400,000 flashes which will last well over 12 years, if used as directed.

How strong is this product and what is the energy output?

Our handsets have an energy output of 4.9J/cm2. This means that it is ideal for safe hair removal and is also approved for effective at-home use.

Which areas of my body can I use this on?

You can use your handset on your whole body, including your Brazilian and face. However, do not get close to your eyes.

Do I need to shave before using the product?

Yes, we recommend shaving the areas you wish to target before using your handset.

Which hair removal methods can I use between treatments?

Between treatments, you should only shave when required. You should never wax, pluck, or epilate as these hair removal methods removes the entire root, which is what absorbs the light during the treatment.

Are there any recurring costs?

No, unlike laser-clinics, our handset is a one-time purchase. There is no need for replacements or refills. Simply plug in and go!

Does it work for all skin tones?

Our handset is suitable for all but the darkest skin tones. Please refer to our skin tone chart below to see whether or not our handset is suitable for you.

We recommend to start on Intensity level 1 and to always patch test before starting your treatments and when changing intensity level.

Does it work for all hair colors?

IPL relies on melanin in the hair absorbing the light energy; therefore, IPL is not effective on very light blonde, red, or white/gray colored hair.

Is it safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Although no evidence stating that IPL has negative effects on pregnant or breastfeeding women exists, we still do not recommend using our handset if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, just as a precaution.

Is it safe to use over freckles or moles?

No, you should not IPL over very dark/large freckles or moles.

Is it safe to use over tattoos?

No, you should not IPL over tattoos, although going around tattoos is fine.

Can I use this product before or after tanning?

If you have been tanning recently, we must recommend waiting 2 weeks before using your handset. Please also wait at least 48 hours to tan after using your handset. Artificial tan should also not be on your skin while using your handset.

How is the handset powered?

Our handsets come with a 12V power supply.

Does the handset come with a warranty or money-back guarantee?

Yes, our handsets come with a 12-month warranty and 90 day money-back guarantee.

Additional Questions Related to Shipping

Can I change the shipping address for my order?

We will be happy to change the shipping address for your order! Please email our Customer Service team with your order number and the updated address ASAP, as we are only able to make changes to your order if it has not yet entered the packaging process.

Can I change the email address for my order?

Please email our Customer Service team with your order number, original email address, and the updated email address so that we may make the changes for you. Once your email address has been updated, we can resend your order confirmation and/or shipping confirmation emails to the updated address.

My package says it is delivered, but I did not receive it.

Your package will most likely be delivered within a few days, but it’s great to check with your neighbours and/or post office for more information in the meantime!

If you do not receive your order in a couple days, please email our Customer Service team, within 14 days of the last tracking update, with your order number and tracking information so we can investigate this for you.

My international tracking is not updating.

We're so sorry for the delay with your package! Although tracking does not indicate this, we can assure you that your package is still in transit to you.

Please note that international orders typically take 25 to 31 full business days to be delivered. Business days do not include weekends, or holidays.

This delay is due to COVID-19 restrictions on airline space.

Can I have my order delivered to a PO Box address?

Orders delivered to a PO BOX address may be subject to additional delays.

Can my parcel be redirected to a different address?

Once your order ships, we are unable to make any changes to the shipping address.

You should still be able to update your address with the local shipping provider once it is handed over to them.

Do you have a phone number I can contact?

We currently don’t have a phone number for customer service inquiries, but we recommend taking a look around our Help Center to find answers to your questions/concerns.

Delivery and Return Delays

We do our very best to process and ship your order as quickly as possible; however, once your order is transferred to the Local Shipping Provider, it may encounter delays during its journey to you. The same is true for orders determined to be undeliverable by the Local Shipping Provider and returned to our warehouse.

Please note SmileSkin is not responsible for any shipping deliveries that may be affected by customs, natural occurrences, transfers from our Shipping provider to the local carrier in your country or air and ground transportation strikes or delays.

For returned orders, please note that we will issue a full refund for your order once it is received at our warehouse. We are unable to process a refund for a returned order until we physically receive the package. We apologize for any inconvenience.
